Creative and fresh images will encourage a visitor to spend more time on a site. They will return if they have read interesting text content. Search engines love rich, fresh, organic text content.
What makes a good website design?
You have about three to five seconds to capture your visitors attention to your website. This assumes that your site with good web design loaded on the browser quickly. If not, the user will just click away to your competitors website (sites must load on a browser within 3 to 5 seconds). A good web design should immediately capture your visitors attention with cool graphics or attention grabbing text titles. read more

Branding & Logo
A good start to begin logo design is to research what your competitors logos look like. Do you want to use letter intials or just an icon? Do you want to use the full name and include a tag line of just a simple font style for the business name? Color also plays a critical role in defining a logo as well as white space. A business logo is “your first impression” that a visitor to your site reads. It must convey that you are professional. read more

I found that a majority of small business owners want to be in control of their website. They want to add new text, new images, edit pricing on their products, change text spacing, the list goes on and on. Having basic computer skills, they should be able to accomplish these tasks. WordPress is an online content management system. It is not necessary to have to go onto a server, grab a file, make changes, and then upload the file back to the server. Changes can be made online in real time. read more
Search Engine Optimization
First and foremost Google needs to know that your site exists. The easiest way to accomplish this task is to start a Google Webmaster account, submit a site map, and tell Google to index your site. Once this is done the crawlers (bots, spiders, what ever you want to call them) will start reading your content. Google loves fresh, organic text content and quality links. Google will reward you with placement on a search query page. read more
Who is your target audience? Does your domain name contain any key words? What is a user going to type into the search box? Does your content contain your keywords? Is navigation a clear path for the user?
The website design needs to convey the messge that your are professional – that you are an authority for your product or services. The design lets the user navigate without breaks or endless loops.
It’s the little details that make a website professional. Having the right text font with letter spacing and height, images that are crysal clear, content spacing – the list goes on and on. I work extensively with CSS style coding.
The coding has to be correct for the site to load fast and be found on search engines. There’s a lot of work that is unseen to the user but is critical for the search engines to see. The correct build takes time but will payoff.
Woolworth Building Tours
This WordPress site was a collaboration between myself and Chuck. I did all of the back end work (and built logo) while Chuck did the front end. I provided all the SEO needed to be competitive with the other New York building tours (Empire State building, Met, Statue of Liberty, etc). Woolworth tours now has a page one listing with Google.
I rebuilt the original HTML ToneTubby website and then rebuilt that site using WordPress just recently. The site uses the Divi WordPress theme especially developed for the WooCommerce plugin that handles all the speaker and cabinet sales. I also built all the speaker and cabinet specifications.
DaCopywriter is my wife’s website. She is a professional copywriter who specializes in writing business plans and web content. We have recently rebuilt the site with the uDesign WordPress theme. The front page uses the Revolution slider which allows video configurations. I also built the logo.
Email received after launch of new WordPress website:
“Tom – Just a quick and long over due note to thank you very much for all of your help and assistance to Chuck in creating the WoolworthTours website. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
Email received after WordPress website startup:
Thanks for helping me get my site together. After looking at your work I wish I had you design it from the beginning.
